How "The Simpsons" relate to the Afghanistan fiasco - and what America is teaching its kids
If our Constitution is not taught to America's children -- and is summarily dismissed by our cultural influencers -- does it even matter anymore?
At first glance, it would appear impossible to find two subjects more unrelated than “The Simpsons,” and the Afghanistan fiasco that is unfolding before our eyes.
Yet there is one linkage that I think is worth considering.
"Noooo problem! I've got health insurance!"
There's an episode of "The Simpsons" in which Homer is walking down a busy city sidewalk, talking to people, not really paying attention to where he’s going, and steps off the curb, about to J-walk across the street.
A friend yells out, "Homer, look out!!! You're about to be hit by a bus!!!"
Homer's reply: "Noooo problem! I've got health insurance!" A few second later...

Every time I turn on the TV or open social media, I see & hear new items that illustrate two things:
(1) What the Biden administration knew, or should have known, about the most basic facets of the situation in Afghanistan — and how to responsibly evacuation a U.S.-controlled facility in a foreign land.
(2) Biden’s acts and omissions1 that defy this reality placed Americans and our allies in Afghanistan in grave danger — while at the same time, handing the global jihad the biggest military, strategic, tactical and propaganda victory in its history — days away from the 20th anniversary of 9/11.
The shameful betrayals perpetrated by Biden and his top people, and the lies that his spokespeople tell on a seemingly hourly basis, should incite a bipartisan chorus of outrage, and a demand for Congressional hearings, all based in the powers that the Constitution delegates to our House and Senate.
The U.S. Constitution is our defense against presidents and federal employees who perpetrate such shameful acts and omissions. If found guilty through impeachment proceedings, such individuals are not only removed from their jobs, they are prevented from ever holding a public office again.
Do the U.S. Constitution’s protections against rogue public officials — including the President — matter, if few know about them, and they’re not taught to our children?
Now, back to “The Simpsons” analogy: in the case of Homer's health insurance, he knew he had it, because he bought it, with money he earned. He was operating from a position of recognizing reality — even though, being Homer, he walked right into the path of a speeding bus.
In our case, what happens if the schools we are forced to pay for, that are supposed to "educate" our kids, not only aren't doing that, they are teaching them that the Constitution is meaningless, and not worth studying, because it was written by a bunch of hateful white European racists?
Do you think I'm exaggerating? Consider:
(9) Half of America’s adults don't know the basic purpose of the Constitution, and can’t identify even one of her rights under it.
(2) The number of Millennials who say they approve of communism jumped from 28% in 2018, to 36% in 2019. 22% think all private property should be abolished.
(3) 43% of Millennials think The Communist Manifesto better “guarantees freedom and equality” than the U.S. Declaration of Independence, or aren’t sure.
(5) 83% of U.S. college graduates and 68% of elected officials cannot identify the functional differences between the free market and a command economy.
From “Meet Today’s Typical Millennial” by Jon Sutz
More:
[1.5] 71% of American adults are unaware that the Constitution is the supreme law of the land; 85% cannot define “the rule of law.”
[1.8] Nearly half of U.S. college graduates don’t know that the U.S. Constitution establishes a separation of powers within the federal government.
[1.9] Only 26% of Americans can identify all three branches of the government — a sharp decline from 2011, when 38% could do so.
[2.3] 21% of American adults believe “the right to own a pet” is articulated in the First Amendment; 17% believe it contains “the right to drive a car.”
From "America At The Precipice" by Jon Sutz
So how are we supposed to protect ourselves (and our military service members) from such a corrupt, subversive regime, if the majority of Americans have practically zero idea of our Constitution -- and our rising generations are being taught that it doesn't matter anyway?2
Bottom line:
To those who say, "No problem! We have the Constitution to protect us!"
Really?
"Stop enabling your destroyers."

That's damned right.
