While you are certainly correct in your assessment, one big factor in their support for Hamas is that they've been indoctrinated to hate Israel and Jews from childhood. It's become an inseparable part of Palestinian culture and philosophy. Just as we accept gravity as a fundamental truth about the world, they accept hatred of Jews as a fundamental truth. That doesn't excuse any of their behavior but it may create the slightest bit of compassion for these hate-filled, benighted souls. They literally don't know any better.

I get what you're saying, and it is very true.

But keep in mind you are just as dead if a hardcore veteran jihadist shoots you, as if a 12-year-old does it, whose brain has been pickled in militant jihad since birth. I feel for those kids - and all the future Palestinian children who are going to be indoctrinated in fanatical Islamist hate & violence, if we don't a) Stop funding the UNRWA schools where it primarily occurs, and b) Completely destroy Hamas, from the root on up. Because right now we're on the cusp of being tricked into allowing Biden to use tens of billions of dollars of our tax money to create what he and his flunkies know with 100% certainty will be a Hamas-ruled terrorist nation.

True...and don't get me wrong...whoever has a gun in their hand must be dispatched just the same. My comment is meant just to mitigate our hatred by even a fraction and similarly increase our compassion for the sad cycle that is playing out yet again before our eyes. This has been a never-ending battle that seems certain to continue indefinitely. Who could possibly "win" from all this horror? We Jews have righteous blood on our hands from being forced to fight these vicious jihadist berserkers...but our hands are still covered in blood. The hands that cradle our kids, the hands that caress our spouses. No civilized person wants to live like that.

We didn't put ourselves into this situation. The last thing Israel wants to do, ever, is engage in violent conflict. But when one is forced into it, the objective must be to do everything possible to bring it to a decisive conclusion, as fast as possible, with the least possible casualties. That is exactly what the IDF is doing.

Every civilian death, every dead Gaza child, every home/mosque/school/hospital destroyed is 100% the responsibility of Hamas. If it would surrender, and release all the hostages, this would be over in a matter of hours. But they refuse, because their war is not a military one - it is an information one. And the more dead Gaza babies, women, etc, is their objective. And of course, the Western MSM and academia acts as zombie parrots for them, putting all the blame, all the demands, on the IDF, rather than where it belongs.

I don't disagree with a single word. I wasn't blaming the IDF. I was saying that even righteous blood in a noble fight results in often literally bloody hands. And that leaves psychic scars which affect families and communities. I was lamenting, not blaming. I don't know to what you were responding but it wasn't my comment. No worries. Everyone is emotionally fraught these days with a hair trigger to fight and defend...myself included.

All four hostages were found in homes! Homes of who? Well, citizens, I guess…
